Ka Emiemi
"Ka Emiemi is an exhibition project co-created by eight artist from diverse practice backgrounds, reflecting the performance landscape in Aotearoa. Ka emiemi, the title of this work, was given to the project by Te Matahīapo before the artists began working together. It contains the curatorial intention for NZPQ23 and describes coming together to assemble, to create. Moving together in time, our ways of making amalgamated into material outcomes, creating moments of slippage between each other." As a student intern on this project I was involved from inception, through till the project was exhibited to an international audience at the Holešovice Market in Prague, Czech Republic. This project allowed me to collaborate with a number of artists, designers, curators and commissioners in a professional environment. My role in particular centred around multimedia contribution and collaboration, through photographic and cinematic practice, documentation, manufacturing and sitting into artist discussion as tauira voice. Ka Emiemi was exhibited in two different forms, one being for the 2023 Performance Arcade Aotearoa (22-26 February 2023), and finally at the 2023 Prague Quadrennial (8-18 June 2023).
